• Can you define fake news in a simple, clear way?

• Title: DON'T BE FOOLED! How to Identify Fake News.
• Definition: Fake news is false information (lies) that is presented as real news.
  – Фейкові новини - це неправдива інформація (брехня), яка подається як справжні новини.

Slide 2: Why is it a problem? (Чому це проблема?)

• Why do people believe it? Because headlines are often shocking, and people share them without reading or checking (from text 01).
• Negative Effects: It can damage someone's reputation (text 04). It can cause serious problems (text 05, p. 116).

Slide 3: How to Identify Fake News (Як розпізнати фейкові новини?)

Use the "4 Questions" method (from text 05):

• WHO? (ХТО?) → Check the author. Are they an expert? Or is it an unknown person?
• WHAT? (ЩО?) → Check the facts. Do other reliable news sources (like BBC, Reuters) report the same story?
• WHERE? (ДЕ?) → Check the website. Does the URL look strange? Is it a famous, trusted media?
• WHY? (ЧОМУ?) → Think about the reason. Is it a joke? Is it trying to make you angry or sell you something?

Slide 4: What Can We Do? (Що ми можемо зробити?)

• How can schools help? Schools can discuss this issue in class (like we are doing now).
• How can websites help? Websites like 'PolitiFact' or 'FactCheck.org' are useful for checking facts.
• Our advice: The best solution is to think before you share. If you are not sure, don't share it!
